More and more it seems evident that dogs can be trained and used to help detect hypoglycemia. This article was sent to us by our friends with Genesis Service Dogs who are helping us train Luke. The article is from Diabetes Forecast

I am very interested in getting or training our labs to detect hypoglycemia. I have 2 boys with GSD IX and 0 and fatty acid oxidation disease…. My 3 year old has a big problem with keeping his blood sugar stablized especially at night and wakes up with extremely low blood sugar and looses consciousness.. so he has to sleep with us…. we have a lab and will be breeding her this spring, if you can share any information with me about how to train for this please get a hold of me… Thank you for your time, Korene
